Jeanette Lorraine Kearsley Henkel, “Cheyenne,” 55, passed away Oct. 8, 2017, in the comfort of her home, from a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family in Morgan, Utah.
Cheyenne was born in Portland, Ore., to Richard Kearsley and Marvel Atwood Kearsley. She grew up in Syracuse, Utah, with her five brothers and younger sister. She enjoyed hanging out with her dad riding horses and doing everything with her siblings. She loved all animals and has had a variety of pets, some domesticated and some not.
Cheyenne married Don Craythorn from Clearfield, Utah, in 1983 and was later divorced. They had three beautiful children. She loved taking her children camping and spending countless nights under the stars. She was passionate about drawing, playing sports and being in the mountains either fishing or camping.
Cheyenne was a free spirit, who traveled more than most and had a variety of jobs centered around the outdoors and helping people. She truly enjoyed cooking for her family. She liked her loved ones to have full bellies and could make a meal out of almost anything. One of her favorites was eating squeeze cheese on hotdogs with her grandkids.
In her free time she enjoyed helping others. She was so helpful to anyone and everyone who crossed her path. She would literally give you the shirt off her back or the food out of her freezer for anyone in need.
Cheyenne loves her family. Her nine grandchildren are her favorites. She enjoyed teaching them how to do things around the house and watching them having fun. You could often see her riding a three wheeled bike to the elementary school to pick up her grandson. Even while she was sick, she tried being the best grandmother she could be.
Cheyenne is survived by her mother, Marvel Kearsley; her brothers, Mike (Karen) Kearsley, Doug (Joleen) Kearsley, Jay D Kearsley; sister, Karen Sibert; her three children, Alyssa (Tom), Trina (Robert) and TJ (Megan); her nine grandchildren, Kaiden, Gavin, Kaylee, Otto, Azpyn, Jax, Stryker, Trudie Mae and Talie; and her beloved dog, Bullseye.
She is preceded in death by her father Richard Kearsley; brothers, Tom, Steve; and her grandparents.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Katrina Craythorn for being the main care taker of her sweet mother throughout her final days.
We would also like to send thanks to the staff McKay hospital, her social worker Zane, and Janae at CNS hospice care. Thank you all for the love and support that you have showed her through her final time on this earth.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for any donations to help with the funeral expenses to be sent to Morgan 1ST Bank under Cheyenne’s name.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah. A visitation will be held at the mortuary one hour prior to services.
Interment will be held at the Milton Cemetery.
