Morgan City started their Water Line and Street Improvement construction project on 125 N. from Commercial street to Riverside Park on March 5th, 2018. They started the project to replace a leaky water line and to upgrade the street. The project should be completed by June 8th, 2018. The street is open one way going from Commercial street to Riverside Park. Businesses in that area are still open. The City is asking the public to use alternative routes, if possible, so they can finish the project ahead of schedule.
“We are putting in a brand-new road. We’ll be adding storm drains, new sidewalk, new asphalt, and fixing some issues with the street,” said Lance Prescott of the Street Department for the City. Prescott continues, “We’re happy how it’s going and ask the public to be patient and to not use the road. The less traffic we have going on that road, the quicker we can finish the project.”
The City has sub-contracted the work out to a local company, Wardell Bros.
Street construction next to Morgan High School:
The City has closed South 200 street, in front of Morgan High School, so that the general contractors for the High School construction project can put in a new water and gas line. The street should be open by Friday, March 9th, 2018.
