Shelby Lynam, daughter of Robert and Heather Lynam, is representing Morgan High School this year as the Visual Arts Sterling Scholar. “Ever since I was a young child, art has been one of my greatest passions,” Lynam said, “I have always had a creative mind, but it wasn’t until I was in middle school I began to really work at it.”
This long-time love for art is illustrated through Lynam’s numerous memories of art museums, homemade gifts, and late-night paintings. She also explained why art is so captivating to her: “I get to look at life how it really is, in its simplest and purest ways. Or I can make it into whatever I want.”
Beyond her amazing talent for painting, ceramics, photography, and more, Lynam loves being involved in many different school activities such as track, cross country, and the National Honor Society. Some of her other interests include music and being happy, something that is apparent in her positive attitude and kindness toward all.
Lynam’s favorite quote is by Mahatma Gandhi: “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” This exemplifies Lynam very well as she uses her talents and loving personality to help those around her. This summer, Lynam is planning to go on a humanitarian trip to Peru. She will attend Utah State University in the fall, and also plans to leave on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints next summer.
