From 1942-1944 over 15,000 Jewish children entered the concentration camp, Terezin (also known as Theresienstadt), in Germany-occupied Czechoslovakia. Terezin generally served as a “way station” for prisoners en route to the gas chambers of Auschwitz or Treblinka, and only 100 children survived Terezin. On May 3, 4, 5 and 7, the Morgan High Drama Department will present Celeste Raspanti’s one-act play, “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” based on the children’s experiences in Terezin.
Performances will begin at 7 pm in the drama room Thursday through Saturday, May 3-5 with a Monday night encore. Cost will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. Due to the mature topic and content, this play is not recommended for children below sixth grade.
