Barbara Joan Miller Rhodes was born May 12, 1928 in Morgan, Utah, to William P. and Katie Rock Miller. She lived in small railroad towns in southwestern Wyoming until the death of her mother in May 1931. She was raised in Morgan by her grandparents, Peter and Janet Russell Rock. She attended schools in Morgan, was active in band, chorus, writing for the Trojan Trumpet and was Editor of the Utopian, the school yearbook. Barbara graduated in May 1946.
On 23 August 1946 she married George Forest “Bud” Rhodes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have made their home and raised their family in Milton. They are the parents of six children, George, Ryan, Rand, JillAnn, Ted, and Suzanne. She has 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom are the joy of her life.
An active member of the LDS Church, she has taught in all of the auxiliaries, and has served as a visiting teacher, ward and stake librarian, a member of the Young Women’s Presidency, President of the Milton Ward Relief Society, scribe for Patriarch Rhodes and Ward Historian. Her hobbies have included horseback riding, writing and poetry, counted cross stitch, sewing, quilting and Family History.
