Last weekend Morgan Soccer played their semi final and state championship games. On Friday, May 11th, the Trojans played the American Leadership Academy Eagles in the semi final game. In the very first minute, the Eagles scored the first goal, catching Morgan off their guard. The Trojans made them pay for it, scoring three times before the end of the first half. The Eagles scored one more time in the second half, but Morgan was able to hold till the end of the game to come away with the 3-2 victory and a change to play Judge Memorial in the final.
The following day Morgan faced Judge in at the Zions Bank Stadium at the RSL Academy in Herriman. The Trojans had faced region rival Judge twice before during the regular season. Though, both games were close matches the Bulldogs came away with the victories on each occasion. After Judge soundly beat Delta 8-2 in their semifinal, they were looking for a challenge. Morgan was up to the task.
The defensive bout was a back and forth standstill as both teams remained scoreless through 97 minutes. In the second overtime, Judge finally found the back of the net despite Trek Loveridge’s best efforts. Morgan had several shots on goal, but was not enough. Judge Memorial took the 3A State Championship over Morgan with a 1-0 victory. The game couldn’t have been closer between these two dominant teams.
Congratulations to Morgan for such a successful season.
