A local baseball team made up of 7th and 8th graders has finished up a great 24 game season which included weekly double headers in northern Utah and tournament trips to St. George, Utah; Cedar City, Utah; and Pocatello, Idaho. The team began practicing every week starting inside in January and continued that level of commitment until late June. The team included: Andrew Abplanalp, Gage Adams, Brock Barker, Connor Browning, J.J. Compton, Nick Despain, Everett Gilson, Porter Hales, Braden Howe, Ashton Lindley, Elias Pfannenstiel, Caige Toone, and Gavin Turner. Some exciting highlights from the year are noted below.
On Saturday June 9th, Morgan won one of their Saturday double header games by a score of 18-2. The team collected 15 hits in that game with every player recording at least one hit.
On Saturday June 16th, Morgan played the Herriman Colts as part of the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City. Morgan played one of their best all-around games of the year in a tough 7-5 loss. That Herriman team however went undefeated in the tournament (5-0) and went on to win the Gold medal; their 7-5 win over Morgan was their closest game of the tournament.
On Saturday June 23rd, Morgan pulled out a 10-8 win over a team from the Ogden area that just six weeks earlier had beaten Morgan quite easily.
Coaches Trevor Lindley, Kip Adams, and Ron Hales would like to thank all the parents for their support.
